I would like to start our Holiday edition blog by sharing a view of how I started my business and how even with countless hours of work, failed attempts, and unfinished ideas I’ve stayed motivated... it’s because of YOU!
Our customers are one in a million and I love every single one.
I am asked daily... why? Well, there was a need. A need in my own life, and I knew that I wasn’t the only person in the world having reactions to unknown chemicals in products. I will step out now to say that not all chemicals are bad, but I am one who knows that chemicals equal to loads of testing and can result in animal cruelty. My morality and values tell me that I must not contribute to that crime.
I took a simple but not simple “Ah ha!” idea: take the chemicals out and replace them with natural ingredients that do the same things. Well, what about preservatives? Yes, they are needed in some products, but paraben or formaldehyde-based preservatives is a no-fly zone. If we create an oil-based product then preservation isn’t needed, so if you feel very strongly about a pure naked product without preservatives, our “Don’t Be Jelly” all-purpose moisturizer is great. Also, check out any of our bar soaps like “Dreamhole”, which is currently one of my absolute faves. When preservation is needed, we use methods that are botanically based and derived from plants like in our bestselling thick cream “Handy”, made with an emulsion of shea and cocoa butter.
An interesting thing I found out when I started formulating products is that there are about 100 many ways for a company to name an ingredient. So, you’re allergic to a type of silicone? Watch out; there are a dozen or more names for that ingredient and you may not recognize it. We use common names in our products, so you can recognize exactly what the ingredients are. If you are allergic to honey you will see “Mel (Honey)” on the package and easily avoid it, whereas a synthetic ingredient with multiple possible names would be much more difficult to identify.
One last thing that I’m excited to say is we will NEVER use any fragrance or perfume. Loads of companies use fragrance to hide additional preservation it’s a big no-no because fragrance according to the FDA does not need to be explained
What I can promise is that you will always see Good Common Sense Naturals making its own products in small batches and only using what is botanical or natural in our creations.
You can bet your 🍑 👈🏻 that I’ll use essential oils for all eternity for Good Common Sense Naturals and if I don’t... there won’t be any scent to it 😂
